Makes me want to take a shower.

And just to prove I am a racist, I have to say that there is no trash trashier than white trash. You are bang on that those were the talking points at TFMR no matter how hard one tried to stop it. Now there’s a conspiracy for you …

  2. EO says:

I’m sure these guys are all big fans of “real money” too, lol.

  3. EO says:

Re: word of the day. Sorry, couldn’t resist. 😳

  4. xty says:

I saw on TV this early morning, around 4 something, that gold had skyrocketed 325% and I should but [haha, that should read buy. I only noticed that after I posted the comment. Freud, that lunatic, would be proud,] these gold coins that were almost, but somehow not quite, government mint issued. It was possibly my last chance to get any …

It is like the Hari Krishna back in the seventies trying to recruit the vulnerable, at the airport, bus terminal, downtown anywhere in Toronto. Late night tv lets you know that there are starving puppies, cats, even humans, you are too fat but there is hope, you are too bald but there is hope, you are too old but there are cosmetics, and you need to buy precious metals. The last one is an odd bedfellow, and the others don’t seem racist or gun obsessed. After your money through fear and guilt, sure, that is the same, and the starving children people are always specifically christian, but not the puppy savers.

So it must be that the common element is getting your money through fear and guilt. A verbal venn diagram says so. No ifs, ands or butts about it.

  5. xty says:

This sign astonished and failed to inform me in Boston, speaking of butts:

  6. EO says:

excellent choice on Song o’ the Day. 💡

  8. xty says:

Here are some of my pictures from my trip to Boston, and I found I flattering one of me and am off to change my avatar!

  9. xty says:

I am sorry that you need to type something to post a picture. A flaw in the platform.

This is a giraffe’s head, made of metal, against the sky.

  10. xty says:

I made us all a little bit bigger because I was excited to figure out how. Not sure if I like it, and it is mutable, so pile on with opinions.

  11. EO says:

    fine by me.

Just cooked some awesome brats on a $3 garage sale grill. Life is good.

I just realized a common thread in my life. Things that make me happy are grills, campstoves, roasting pans, and cast iron skillets. The common denominator is that they all make me think about meat. Meat makes me happy.

Unreconstructed carnivore, I guess. EDIT: and unrepentant.

EDIT again: I don’t admit that I can’t control it. Basically don’t care to control it. And I don’t recognize any higher power either, so I guess a 12 step program for a love of meat is out of the question.

  12. xty says:

I like meat too. I roasted a leg of lamb last night and by tomorrow night it will be curry.

  13. EO says:

Well, I’m sorry, but articles like this drive me insane. Yes, these seem on the surface to be sensible theory, and SOMEDAY they might turn out to be right. Maybe even someday before we are all DEAD! But in the meantime they tell us absolutely NOTHING about timing. NOTHING, NOTHING, NOTHING! Absolute DICK! And without some guidance on timing, this crap is as useless as tits on a bull. Worse than useless. In fact, will only cost you money.

Just another Siren Song, as I posted about above. IGNORE, IGNORE, IGNORE!!!!!!!!!

Why The Bust Is Inevitable According To The Austrian Business Cycle Theory

  14. EO says:

In case I haven’t been clear, I think ALL economists, both the left and the right, both “Team A” and “Team K”, are all agenda driven politicians in disguise. Politicians, charlatans, carnival barkers, and pickpockets. None of them have anything to say that will help you manage your money. Quite the contrary.

  15. EO says:

And I just remembered our friend the woodpecker has a degree in Economics. Sorry buddy, but it is what it is.

  16. xty says:

I came up with this metaphor today – if you spend all your time looking for a black swan you will miss 99 white ones.

  17. EO says:

As a good faith effort toward peacemaking, I will acquiesce to the idea that Economics is a valid field of study. But I flatly reject the notion that it has any application toward investment management whatsoever.

And yes, xty, good one on the swans.

  18. xty says:

I am closely related to economists, and while I find it fascinating it is a bit like philosophy: interesting but not practical.

  19. EO says:

Election night shocker: #2 Republican in the House, Eric Cantor, Speaker John Boehner’s right hand man, bumped off in GOP primary by unknown Tea Party douchebag. The Grand Old Tea Party continues it’s pell mell rush into the dustbin of history.

Off to the sauna, to ponder on that one a while.

  20. xty says:

Great. The anti-immigrant party or Hillary. Steaming your head seems like a fine option.

  21. xty says:

Weird – EO’s comment just appeared. Makes my song incongruous. Damn Catholics working with big Pharma. If one could get more cynical one would.
