Gobble gobble gluck gluck, munch munch munch, millions of Americans sitting down to lunch [with apologies to Spike Milligan]

Happy Thanksgiving to my American friends …

hard to know where to begin, but easy to know where to stop:

Stumped by being unable to show my latest latch hook [whew, ed] as it is a gift, but my obsession continues and I have been trying to learn Gimp and succeeding just enough to pixelate very happily a photo of ducks and reduce the colours to a manageable 18, and get a pixel count for each colour, so you can imagine my excitement. And it has kept my head away from the world most wonderfully.

And thanks Nana, you were a very good mum …

Well it has been slim picken’s around here lately, I must apologize. But I have been both just being more relaxed and also working on this latch hook pattern project and it is coming along most excellently. Except that it will take quite the amount of wool (acrylic?) and it turns out of course that there are a zillion factors to be considered, price certainly amongst them. Where and how to purchase the right quality and colour? Not the best online situation … but perseverance has led me to a yarn count by colour and a map for the hooking … and just to save you a really well-avoided 1000 words, here are a couple of pictures that show the cool results so far:

Picture reduced to rug canvas size and 16 colours:

And here is a close up of the grid of pixels that makes the map for the rug, each square being one pixel/knot:

Good morning. A bit of a cold dropping energy levels, but yoga to the rescue.

Can’t say enough about Iyengar yoga … fascinating and very helpful for body and soul.

And another good morning. Tonight is one of our rare charitable moments, as we provide the free [to everybody else, ed.] hot chocolate and cookies at our community Kris Kringle, that used to be sort of about the deserving poor getting a chance to bring their kids to make crafts and get a free photo with Santa, and has devolved into a bit of a cocktail party atmosphere as the neighbourhood has gentrified. Which might just lead me to a quick rant and a Russ Roberts recommendation.
